On Friday, 26 September 2025, the NUS Medical Society held its 77th Annual General Meeting (AGM). The night started with an opening address by our Guest-of-Honour, Professor Paul Tambyah, Department of Medicine, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He commended the EXCO for their dedication and efforts in the past term; taking up the mantle to serve and represent NUS Medicine students while juggling our studies and other life commitments. Prof. Tambyah also reflected on the long legacy of NUS Medicine, noting that our school’s 120-year history has produced generations of doctors who continue to shape the practice of healthcare in Singapore. He spoke candidly about the realities faced by junior doctors today, from unhealthy work cultures to expectations that may compromise on their wellbeing, and highlighted important avenues such as the SMA DIT Helpline in supporting them. Prof. also touched on his own experiences as VP of NUS Medical Society during his time as a medical student, and encouraged the 77th EXCO to keep traditions alive such as each batch presenting their own Playhouse act, reminding us that these shared experiences form the heart of our community.
This was followed by the presentation of the MedSoc Colours Awards, which are given to MedSoc directorate members who have made extraordinary contributions towards their directorate, and by extension, NUS MedSoc in the past year.
The awards were presented by outgoing president Mr Aravind Madabhushi, who emphasised that whatever MedSoc has done over the past year would not be possible towards them, and that their support need not come only in the form of the work done in their respective directorates, but even the social support they provided their directors throughout their term by being a reliable and trusted teammate.
